Susanta Nandy is a Project Head and Civil Engineer based in Chandannagore. He has over 21 years of experience in EPC power transmission and substation infrastructure projects, working extensively across India and Bangladesh.

Education

Susanta Nandy holds a PMP® certification (#4122298), NEBOSH IGC (#00815081), an OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and a B.E. in Civil Engineering which is apostilled (UPLU0000029624).

Career

Susanta Nandy has more than 21 years of experience in EPC power transmission and substation infrastructure, including AIS, GIS, HVDC, and voltage levels from 33 to 750 kV across India and Bangladesh. He has managed a portfolio worth over USD 700 million (₹5,200 crore) and currently serves as Project Director (EPC).

His career began at Techno Electric (2004–2010) where he progressed from Site Engineer to Site Manager, overseeing more than 5 AIS substations (132–400 kV) in Rajasthan and West Bengal, achieving approximately 15% cost savings with zero lost time injuries (LTI). At ABB (2010–2011), he worked as Civil & Electrical EPC Project Manager on brownfield projects inside a live 2,320 MW thermal plant, successfully avoiding any plant trips and transitioning between electrical and civil disciplines.

From 2011 to 2017, Susanta worked with Siemens Ltd on 400/220 kV GIS projects for PGCIL, notably delivering the Rajarhat project 100 days ahead of schedule by turning community opposition into advocacy. His work included bespoke scaffolding for 22-meter GIS halls and managing cold-weather concrete at −2°C.

Since 2017, he has been with Siemens Energy leading a 22-substation Bangladesh program funded by five agencies (IsDB, ADB, JICA, KFW, private). He currently leads the PGCB IDB turnkey EPC project (approximately 97% complete) and the Prantij 400/220/66 kV GIS project for GETCO.

Achievements

Susanta Nandy has delivered significant results including an 8% margin improvement on a ₹7 billion turnover and ₹380 million cost reductions through engineering innovations. He has recovered over ₹120 million in delay claims, validated a ₹350 million civil-unrest insurance claim, and managed a ₹150 million transformer fire recovery. His efforts have protected ₹520 million in political and administrative risks, reducing average delays from 60 to 15 days. He has ensured zero disbursement delays across five international funding frameworks.

With over 1.45 million safe man-hours and zero major incidents in his 21+ year career, Susanta has received appreciation letters from PGCB and GETCO. He was awarded the Siemens "Unsung Hero" Award in 2020 for 13 months of uninterrupted delivery during the COVID lockdown. Innovations such as RMC adoption, elevated GIS basements, and punching-shear foundation redesigns under his leadership have been adopted as standards in Bangladesh and the region.
