Soma Chakraborty (born 7 February 1983 in Kolkata, India) is an Indian entrepreneur, healthcare leader, and social activist. She is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Goodace Hospital, President of Gouri’s Foundation, State Joint Secretary of Human Rights India, and State President (Women Cell) of the Association of Indian Journalists.

Her journey from working in hospitality and corporate hospitals to building her own hospital empire is a story of resilience, vision, and purposeful growth. Today, she is recognized as one of India’s youngest healthcare entrepreneurs, balancing hospital leadership with social work and women empowerment.

Early Life and Education

Soma Chakraborty was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, to Sambhu Chakraborty and Shukla Chakraborty. She pursued her B.A. in Political Science (Hons.), followed by an MBA in Business Analysis & Strategy Planning. She later completed an MPH (Master in Public Health), earned Six Sigma certification, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Public Health.

Her educational background, coupled with personal experiences, shaped her mission of building accessible and ethical healthcare systems in India.

Career

Soma began her career as a Sales Executive in the hospitality industry. Later, she transitioned into healthcare, working as HOD (Marketing) in a corporate hospital, where she gained over 10 years of experience.

In May 2021, driven by the Covid-19 crisis and lack of affordable hospital care, she co-founded Goodace Hospital in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, starting with 50 beds, ICUs, HDU facilities, and modular OTs. Despite financial challenges and personal sacrifices, Soma scaled the hospital with 50lakh from my savings without taking loan and now its valuation 30cr in less than 3 years. And very soon she going to lunch her own pharmaceutical company

Today, the hospital is empanelled with Swasthya Sathi, West Bengal Health Scheme, and Central Government health schemes, offering cashless facilities.
