Early Life
Captain Nirmal Singh Randhawa was born on 04 May 1980 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. From a young age, he displayed discipline, patriotism, and a strong desire to serve the nation.
Military Career
At the age of 17, in 1997, Nirmal Singh Randhawa cleared the National Defence Academy examination and was commissioned into the Indian Army as a Lieutenant in the Sikh Regiment.
During the Kargil War in 1999, he served on the front lines and displayed exceptional courage. In the course of battle, he was seriously injured and taken prisoner by Pakistani forces. He remained a prisoner of war for nearly three months before being safely repatriated to India along with 115 Indian soldiers.
In recognition of his bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and received multiple military commendations.
He retired from active military service in the year 2000.
Social Work and Charizen Foundation
After retiring from the Indian Army, Captain Nirmal Singh Randhawa dedicated his life to social service and community upliftment. He founded the Charizen Foundation, a charitable organization working extensively in the Raigad–Mangaon region.
