Dr. Ankush Saha is an Indian businessman, agricultural exporter, and national-level para shooting athlete. Early Life
Dr. Ankush Saha was born in West Bengal, India, to Mr. Basudev Saha and Mrs. Tulu Saha. During early childhood, he was affected by polio, which resulted in a permanent physical disability. Alongside physical challenges, he faced severe social discrimination and bullying during his school years.
Originally named Kali Krishna Saha, he later adopted the name Ankush Saha following a school change, marking a significant psychological turning point in his life. His early experiences shaped his mental resilience, self-belief, and determination to overcome adversity.
Education
Dr. Ankush Saha completed his schooling in West Bengal. He appeared for his Class 10 examinations in 1998 and Class 12 examinations in 2000.
He initially enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program at Ananda Mohan College, Kolkata; however, due to unavoidable circumstances, he was unable to complete the course.
Although he aspired to pursue medical studies, health challenges and family responsibilities led him to explore alternative academic and professional paths.
He later completed his bachelor’s degree in 2018 through distance education from Swami Vivekanand University.
Business Career
Dr. Ankush Saha entered the business world at a young age due to family responsibilities. He initially managed and expanded his family’s glass bottle supply business, gaining hands-on experience in trade, logistics, customer relations, and financial management.
Following a cerebral stroke suffered by his father in 2007, he assumed full responsibility for the family business. Despite facing betrayals, financial pressure, and market competition, he stabilized and sustained operations through strategic planning and client trust-building.
Agricultural Export Journey
- In 2010, Dr. Ankush Saha diversified into agricultural exports after completing professional training in export and import operations. He successfully entered international markets, including Europe, despite regulatory challenges imposed by agencies such as DPPQS and APEDA.
- He played a key role in advocating for exporter rights and infrastructure development in West Bengal, including efforts to operationalize government packhouses. He was actively involved with the West Bengal Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Welfare Association and participated in legal action that led to the withdrawal of exporter suspensions by APEDA in 2015.
- Eventually, he established his own certified packhouse, enabling independent export operations and long-term sustainability.
Achievements
In recognition of his outstanding contributions and exemplary performance in serving the farming community and advancing agri-exports, NIILM University, Kaithal awarded him a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Agricultural Marketing. In addition to this prestigious honor, Dr. Saha has received numerous awards from various organizations for his remarkable achievements.
