Sarranjit Bains (born 12 January 1975) is an Indian journalist, editor, author, lyricist, and media personality based in East Moline, Illinois, United States. He is the CEO & Founder of R-19 NEWS TV and the long-standing Editor-in-Chief of The Times of Punjab. With a career spanning three decades, Bains has authored seven books, written lyrics for celebrated Punjabi singers, reported across India, Europe, and North America, and received recognition from the Parliament of Canada and senior Canadian ministers. His book was also presented to the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, a milestone that reflects his literary and cultural contributions.

Early Life

Sarranjit Bains was born on 12 January 1975 in Gatshankar, Punjab, India, to Agriculture Inspector Ram Das Bais and his wife Sudesh Rani. Growing up in a modest but values-driven household, he developed an early interest in literature, social issues, and media.

He began his education at Dwagba Public School, Gatshankar, where he studied until the 10th standard, before continuing at Sinhas Country School, Gatshankar. His academic upbringing instilled discipline and critical thinking, which later supported his career in journalism.

Career

Bains began his professional journey in journalism in 1994 as a reporter for the Delhi Azadiya Wah newspaper. This early exposure to grassroots reporting shaped his commitment to independent journalism and people’s issues.

Sarranjit Bains is married to Prof. Dr. Navreet Kaur Bains, a distinguished Pediatric Nursing academic and author of the textbook series Bright Beginnings: A Student’s Guide to Pediatric Nursing. Together they have one daughter.
