Dr. Shailendra Mishra
Dr. Shailendra Mishra (b. 5 December 1970, Harpur Karah, Chapra, Bihar) is an Indian radiologist, award-winning poet, and visionary thinker popularly known as the Poet of Resistance. His work bridges science, spirituality, philosophy, and social activism, gaining recognition in India and abroad.
Early Life
Dr. Mishra was born to Bishwa Nath Mishra and Kishori Mishra. Raised with three brothers and two sisters, he mastered the Ramayana and Mahabharata during his childhood and began writing poetry at the age of twelve. Politically aware from a young age, he was deeply inspired by Jayaprakash Narayan. During his student years, he became Patna District President of the Student Federation of India while studying medicine.

Career
Dr. Mishra began his career as a radiologist and went on to establish himself as one of the leading consultant radiologists in Patna. Alongside medicine, he pursued literature passionately. His Hindi poetry collections include Chingari (2012) and Chourahe Par Loktantra (2015). During the COVID era, he turned to English poetry and published Valley of Light (2025), which won the Author Pen Award for Best Book in Reflective Poetry.
He is the founder of the poetic genre Age of Homo Silicona and is currently working on Homo Silicona: The Next Humans, a visionary exploration of humanity in the Age of Machines.
Literary Themes
His poetry addresses healing, self-acceptance, authenticity, trauma, resilience, and social conscience. Inspired by William Wordsworth, he also wrote an acclaimed 18-poem cycle Gospel of Lucy within Valley of Light.

Personal Life
In 1997, Dr. Mishra married Dr. Vineeta Singh. They have two children, Ananya Diya (lawyer) and Amey Vikram (MBBS student). He is also an animal rights advocate and has rescued and adopted 12 street dogs.
