Ashmita Paul is an Indian self-defense instructor, solo motorcycle rider, and social activist based in Guwahati, Assam. She is widely known for training young girls in self-defense and leading 7500+ km solo rides across India and neighboring countries to promote Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and the legacy of Assamese freedom fighter Veerangana Kanaklata Barua.

Early Life

Ashmita was born on 5 April 2005 in Pandu, Guwahati, Assam. She showed early interest in martial arts and social empowerment, eventually committing to using her skills to protect and uplift young women across India.

Career

Ashmita began her journey as a self-defense instructor in her teens and has been conducting free training sessions for girls across Assam for over four years. Achievements

Major Solo Motorcycle Rides

  • Guwahati to Nepal (2024): Rode 2,500 km to Jhapa, Nepal, to promote girl child empowerment. She was felicitated by local leaders and women’s rights advocates.
  • Guwahati to Gangtok (2025): Received at Raj Bhavan by the Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, for her contribution to Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
  • Guwahati to Agartala (2025): Felicitated by the Governor of Tripura at Raj Bhavan, Tripura for her campaign toward women's safety.
  • Guwahati → Kashmir → Kanyakumari (2025):
 Ashmita completed a 7500+ km solo ride, spreading awareness of:
 - Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao
 - The bravery of Veerangana Kanaklata Barua
 During this journey:
 * She was received in Srinagar by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha.
 * She was congratulated by HCM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, for her inspiring ride and gifted him a digital painting.
 * Her journey was officially appreciated by the CM Office Assam on their verified X (formerly Twitter) account.

Philanthropy

Ashmita continues to advocate for women’s empowerment, girl child education, and martial arts awareness in rural and urban India. Her initiatives align with national campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and she uses her platform to mentor youth in self-defense, confidence building, and civic responsibility.
