Maminul Akanda was born on 22 February 1988. He grew up with a vision to uplift individuals from humble backgrounds by providing them with education and opportunities to succeed.

Maminul Akanda completed his graduation in hotel management, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the education sector.
Career
In 2010, Maminul Akanda founded the Global Institute of Management Studies (GIMS). Starting with limited infrastructure and a small group of teachers and students, he pursued a mission to offer affordable hotel management education to underprivileged youth.
His vision was to create opportunities for earning alongside learning and to ensure placement support for students. Under his leadership, GIMS has successfully placed students in prestigious five-star hotels in India and abroad, helping transform the lives of many students from economically challenged backgrounds.
Maminul Akanda is also the Founder and CEO of Shark International Edutech Private Limited, an organization working in the field of education and skill development.
Philanthropy
Maminul Akanda’s work through GIMS reflects his commitment to social upliftment by empowering students from economically challenged families, including children of rickshaw pullers, porters, farmers, and laborers, as well as those from remote regions like the Sundarbans.
