SOBIN K THOMAS is an Indian ex-army person, social worker, and motivator based in India. He is recognized for his distinguished military service and his significant contributions to humanitarian and social entrepreneurship initiatives.
Early Life
SOBIN K THOMAS was born on 9 January in Manikkadav, Kerala, India. He hails from the Kannur district and completed his early education under the Kerala State Board.
Education
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lovely Professional University. Additionally, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management & Human Resource Development and obtained professional certifications as a Certified Fire Officer (A Grade) and Air Defence Weapons Specialist.
Career
SOBIN K THOMAS served in the Indian Army for 18 years from 2003 to 2021. His military career included postings in strategic and high-risk operational zones such as South Block in New Delhi and Missamari in Assam. He specialized in Air Defence Gun Systems, Ammunition Handling, Fire & Risk Management, and Security Operations. He was awarded the Siachen Glacier Medal for his service under extreme operational conditions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided frontline humanitarian and wellness support to soldiers in Assam.
After retiring from military service, he founded Sobin’s Greens Charitable Trust in 2016, which was formally registered in 2021. The trust focuses on food security, medical outreach, livelihood generation, women and youth empowerment, and civil/legal assistance. Under his leadership, the organization has distributed over 25,000 meals and organized more than 30 free medical outreach programs. Sobin’s Greens also operates multiple social enterprise verticals including restaurants, civil support centers, agricultural trading, travel services, and a direct selling network empowering over 250 micro-entrepreneurs.
Achievements
SOBIN K THOMAS has received several prestigious awards including the Siachen Glacier Medal from the Government of India, the Babasaheb International Award from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Foundation, the Global CSR & ESG Award, and the Global Apex Award for Best Community Impact. He was also conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Military Service and Social Work by the World Culture and Environment Protection Commission.
