Mohit Kumar is an Indian inventor, author, and entrepreneur best known as the inventor of Railwind Technology 2.0, a patented green energy solution designed to generate electricity using air pressure produced by high-speed trains. He is also the founder of the Unicorn Brothers Foundation and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Unicorn Brothers Group of Companies.

Early Life and Education

Mohit Kumar was born on 6 August 1989 in New Delhi, India. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Communication and an MBA in Project Management.

Career

Mohit began his professional career in the switchgear industry before moving into international crowdfunding projects. During this period, he developed the idea for generating electricity through the high air pressure created by fast-moving trains. In 2017, he submitted detailed sketches, diagrams, and a thesis for his invention, Railwind Technology, to the Intellectual Property Office of the Government of India.

In March 2024, his invention was officially granted a patent by the Intellectual Property, Government of India, and is now published on their public website as Application Number: 201711012368 and Patent Number: 519956. The technology is also published under the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Government of the USA.

Railwind Technology

Railwind Technology (RWT) is a patented renewable energy innovation that generates electricity by harnessing the high air pressure beneath fast-moving trains. The system uses specialized concrete chambers and heavy-duty wind turbines installed underneath railway tracks to capture this air pressure.

A horizontal curved wind turbine absorbs the air flow through an air guiding tunnel. Its stator and rotor system, using high-magnitude neodymium magnets, converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. According to Mohit’s calculations, installing one RWT unit every 500 meters can generate up to 2 MW of electricity per unit when trains pass over at speeds above 150 km/h. Given India’s 61,315 km of electrified railway lines, the potential electricity generation is estimated to be approximately 245,260 MW units per day.

Applications and Benefits

  • Electricity generated can power railway stations, nearby villages, and towns.
  • Surplus energy can be used for roadside RWT-EV charging stations along highways and expressways.
  • Using SCADA and Machine Learning, RWT units can provide real-time train tracking and anti-collision safety for high-speed trains.

Unicorn Brothers

In addition to inventing Railwind Technology, Mohit Kumar founded the Unicorn Brothers Foundation and leads the Unicorn Brothers Group of Companies. Based in New Delhi, Unicorn Brothers develops, finances, and supports projects in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other modern technologies. The organization’s mission is to find and back breakthrough ideas that benefit humankind and the environment without harming the planet.
