Debaditya Roy was brought up in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal and currently settled in Kolkata.

Education

Debaditya Roy pursued a Ph.D. in Law from Amity University, Rajasthan (2020–2025). He holds an M.Phil in Law and an MBA in Human Resources. Debaditya Roy holds an M.Phil in Law and an MBA in Human Resources. He completed his LL.M. in Crime & Torts, followed by integrated LL.B. degree from the University of North Bengal, West Bengal (2000–2005). Additionally, he completed his Higher Secondary and Secondary examinations with first division from WBCHSE and WBBSE respectively. He studied in Jalpaiguri Zilla School, West Bengal.

Career

Debaditya Roy has been practicing as an advocate since 16 May 2006, appearing in Jalpaiguri District & Sessions Court, Calcutta High Court, and other subordinate courts and tribunals in Kolkata and its suburbs. He served as a Legal Assistant at the Central Adoption Resource Authority, Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India (Sep 2008 – Mar 2009). He worked as a Legal Officer at Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a Government of India enterprise, from February 2011 to May 2012. Since June 2012, he has been serving in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, at the North Eastern Police Academy, Shillong, Meghalaya. Initially appointed as Deputy Assistant Director (Police Science), he was promoted to Assistant Director (Law) in March 2018, a position he currently holds. Debaditya Roy is presently working as a professional trainer on different law subjects for law enforcement officials across the country.

Achievements

Debaditya Roy is the recipient of the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Police Training for the year 2020–21. He has received multiple certificates of appreciation and commendation for his contributions to police training and legal education, including recognition from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Director of NEPA, Central Academy for State Forest Service, State Judicial Academy of Meghalaya, and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.

Debaditya Roy has authored several scholarly articles on wildlife crime, legal evidence, and criminal law, published in journals such as the Journal of Wildlife and Biodiversity and the Journal of Positive School Psychology.
