Matrushiksha and Social Welfare Foundation was founded in 2011 by Dr. Rajesh Likhitkar and Dr. Nisha Dwivedi Likhitkar with a vision to create a self-reliant and empowered rural India. The organization works to bring holistic change through programs in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, sanitation, and livelihood development.

From its inception, the foundation has emphasized sustainable solutions over short-term aid, working directly with rural communities to understand challenges and co-create impactful programs. By integrating modern technology, best practices, and strong values, Matrushiksha bridges the gap between underserved populations and essential resources.

The organization follows an Engage, Empower, Execute, Exit model:

  • Empower – Provide tools, education, skills, and healthcare that enable self-sufficiency.
  • Execute – Implement high-impact, measurable projects tailored to community needs.
  • Exit – Transition ownership to the community once sustainability is achieved.

Over the years, Matrushiksha has:

  • Modernized rural schools with libraries, computer labs, and science kits
  • Trained women in income-generating skills
  • Delivered regular healthcare through free medical camps and maternity clinics
  • Installed clean drinking water systems and UNICEF-standard sanitation facilities
  • Provided large-scale relief, including daily meals for 300+ people during COVID-19

Core Initiatives

  • Education for Underprivileged Children – Matrushiksha modernizes rural education by establishing fully equipped libraries, computer labs, and science & mathematics learning kits. The foundation trains teachers in activity-based learning to make education interactive, engaging, and relevant for children from marginalized communities.
  • Women Empowerment Programs – The foundation conducts skill development workshops, vocational training, and micro-enterprise support for women, enabling them to contribute to household income and achieve financial independence. Special emphasis is given to empowering widows, single mothers, and women from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Healthcare Services – Regular health camps are organized in remote villages in partnership with doctors and paramedical teams. The maternity clinic promotes safe, normal deliveries and maternal health awareness. Preventive healthcare education is also a key focus, addressing hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Infrastructure & Sanitation – Matrushiksha builds and maintains clean drinking water systems, handwashing stations, and gender-specific sanitation facilities in schools and community centers, following UNICEF standards. These projects aim to improve public health and school attendance, especially for girls.
  • Social Welfare & Relief Work – The organization runs large-scale welfare drives including winter clothing and blanket distribution, mass marriages for underprivileged girls, and community celebrations. During crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, Matrushiksha provided daily meals to hundreds of people for over a year.
  • Environmental Initiatives – Tree plantation drives are conducted at every major event, promoting environmental sustainability and community participation in green practices. The foundation also educates rural youth about environmental conservation and waste management.

Through these initiatives, Matrushiksha and Social Welfare Foundation addresses the interconnected issues of poverty, education, health, and gender equality, creating lasting impact in rural communities.
