Arbind Kumar Tiwary is an Indian teacher and social worker based in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He has dedicated over three decades to improving rural and tribal education, serving as Acting Head Master at Upgraded Middle School (UMS), Tangrain, Potka, and leading multiple community and educational initiatives.

Early Life

Arbind Kumar Tiwary was born on 10 October 1971 in Jamshedpur to Jamuna Tiwary and Chandravati Devi. His upbringing instilled in him a strong belief in education as a tool for social transformation.

Education

Arbind Kumar Tiwary completed his Master of Arts (M.A.) degree and has continuously upgraded his professional knowledge through teacher development programmes. He completed specialised training in Library Management Systems from Bookworm, Goa, and is pursuing advanced library education through the Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts.

Career

Arbind Kumar Tiwary began his teaching career on 21 September 1994 as a government primary school teacher at M.S. Kalimati. He currently serves as the Acting Headmaster of Upgraded Middle School (UMS), Tangrain, Potka, East Singhbhum, Jharkhand.

Under his leadership, UMS Tangrain has transformed from a resource-constrained rural school into one of Jharkhand's recognised government schools through infrastructure development, digital learning initiatives and community participation. The school secured 13 kattha of donated land through community mobilisation, established new classrooms and sanitation facilities, developed a 20-computer laboratory with support from Tarapore School, Jamshedpur, and launched its official website in 2017, becoming one of the first state-run middle schools in Jharkhand to have its own website.

Social Initiatives

Arbind Kumar Tiwary is the founder of Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA), a registered civil society organisation working in education, youth development and community welfare.

In 1996, he co-founded the YUVA Library (now located at Haludbani), which has helped more than 300 students secure careers in government and private sectors.

He also initiated the "Aao Milkar Padhein" campaign, a monthly public reading movement conducted at Jubilee Park, Jamshedpur, to encourage reading habits among people of all age groups.

Apart from education, Tiwary has donated blood 66 times and organised 42 voluntary blood donation camps, contributing significantly to public health awareness and community welfare.
