Deep Singh (born 5 November 1981) is an Indian poet from Nandani Behota, Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. He is known for writing poems in English, Urdu, and local languages, often reflecting his love for nature and belief in non-violence.

Early Life and Education

Deep Singh began his education in his native village before completing higher studies in cities. He earned a Master’s in English and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Career

Deep Singh initially joined the Revenue Department of Jammu and Kashmir as a Patwari in 2002 but later left the job. In 2005, he joined the Education Department as a teacher and currently works as a Master in the department.

Although he pursued teaching as a profession, his foremost identity has always been that of a poet.

Literary Contributions

Deep Singh is the author of two published poetry collections:

  • Dactylology in Poesy (2005)
  • Immature Lines (2024)

His poetry spans multiple languages – English, Urdu, and his regional dialect. His works often celebrate nature, highlight human values, and promote harmony through non-violence.

He believes that poetry is not just expression but also a way to inspire peace and appreciation for beauty in everyday life.

Philosophy

A strong believer in non-violence, Deep Singh frequently weaves themes of peace, compassion, and universal brotherhood into his poetry. He also deeply admires the beauty of nature, which serves as a central inspiration in his creative journey.

Personal Life

Deep Singh is married to Kalasha Plail and has two children – Maruti Anand (son) and Sanvi Anand (daughter).
