Ashutosh Gujarathi is an Indian maritime entrepreneur, former Merchant Navy officer, and marine engineer. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Gujarathi Empire Group and heads its Shipping Division from Pune, Maharashtra. He is widely recognized in the Indian maritime industry for his contributions to shipbrokering, chartering, and international trade.
He is a founding member of Gujarathi Empire Group, which is regarded as one of India’s prominent shipbrokering and chartering firms. During his leadership, he initiated one of India’s earliest commercial shipping programs launched directly from a brokering house.
Early Life and Education
Ashutosh Gujarathi completed his schooling in Pune, Maharashtra.

Professional Career
Ashutosh Gujarathi began his professional career in the maritime industry after completing his marine engineering degree.
In 2014, he joined Emas Offshore and worked on the Baker Hughes project as a Junior Engineer aboard a DP2 vessel for offshore exploration at the Krishna–Godavari oil fields.
In early 2017, after clearing his Class IV Merchant Navy examinations, he joined Seven Islands Tankers India as a Class IV Engineer. Later that year, following the sudden demise of his father and due to family responsibilities, he stepped away from sailing and joined the family’s road transportation business.
He is the member of BNI Chanakya from last 3 years as well as Pune Angel Investors club
Entrepreneurship
In mid-2017, Ashutosh Gujarathi founded the Gujarathi Empire Group with a focus on import and export of agro-commodities to Middle Eastern markets.
In 2018, along with his school friend Rupesh Lodha, he co-founded the hospitality brand Pet Pooja, specializing in vegetarian and Jain cuisine. By 2020, the group expanded into media and entertainment, shipping, and international trading.
He was also a founding member of RBB Ship Chartering, established in partnership with Rajesh Bhojwani.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a key role in restructuring the group. Pet Pooja was divested, RBB Ship Chartering was handed over to new management, and all active ventures were consolidated under Gujarathi Empire Group.
Projects and Commercial Achievements
Ashutosh Gujarathi has overseen and executed several large-scale maritime and logistics projects, including:
- Import of over 1 million tonnes of coal for multiple traders during 2021–2022 under RBB and Gujarathi Empire Group
- Consecutive years as a leading rice vessel broker for East Coast India to West Africa trade routes, exceeding 700,000 metric tonnes
- Strategic role in the Male Government Island Construction Project, coordinating vessel placements with AFCONS involving over 1 million tonnes of boulder supply
- Establishment of joint ventures with investors from Switzerland, Singapore, UAE, and Europe, raising over USD 20 million for ship chartering initiatives
