Sarranjit Bains (born 12 January 1975) is a veteran Indian journalist, editor, author, lyricist, and media personality, widely respected for his three decades of work in journalism and literature. He is the CEO & Founder of R-19 NEWS TV and Editor-in-Chief of The Times of Punjab.

Recognized internationally for his contributions, Bains has reported across India, Europe, and North America, authored seven books, written lyrics performed by leading Punjabi singers, and received honours at the Parliament of Canada. His book presentation to the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, remains a proud milestone in his literary journey.

Early Life

Sarranjit Bains was born on 12 January 1975 in Gatshankar, Punjab, to Agriculture Inspector Ram Das Bais and his wife Sudesh Rani. His upbringing in a values-driven family nurtured his interest in truth, community service, and the written word.

He studied up to the 10th standard at Dwagba Public School, Gatshankar, later continuing at Sinhas Country School, Gatshankar. From a young age, he displayed a natural curiosity about current affairs and social justice, which drew him towards the world of journalism.

Education

Career

Bains began his journalism career in 1994 at the Delhi Azadiya Wah newspaper. Starting from the grassroots, he built a reputation for fearless reporting and a strong editorial voice.

Sarranjit Bains is married to Prof. Dr. Navreet Kaur Bains, a respected Pediatric Nursing academic and author of the textbook series Bright Beginnings: A Student’s Guide to Pediatric Nursing. They are parents to a daughter, Ridham Bains (born 2019).
