Early Life

Dr Surender Kumar was born on 28 August 1986. His father's name is Sh. Jaibir Singh. His permanent residence is in Village Sainipura, Tehsil Hansi, District Hisar, Haryana.

Education

Dr Surender Kumar completed his Higher Secondary Examination (10th) in 2002 and his Senior Secondary Examination (12th) in 2005, both through the Haryana Board of School Education. He completed his B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from P.D.M. College of Engineering, Bahadurgarh (M.D. University, Rohtak), in 2009, and his M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, GJUS&T, Hisar, in 2012.

He completed his Ph.D. from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, awarded in March 2023, with a thesis titled "Experimental Evaluation of Mobile Multi-purpose Solar Hybrid Refrigeration System." He has also pursued postdoctoral studies at Eudoxia Research University, USA, from 2024.

Career

Dr Surender Kumar began his teaching career as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at SBCM and Shree Bala Ji Institute of Technology, Ladwa, Hisar, from August 2009 to August 2010. He then served as Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Prannath Parnami Institute of Management & Technology, Chaudharywas, Hisar, from July 2012 to August 2014.

From September 2014 to March 2023, he was a Research Scholar at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Punjab, working under the guidance of Dr. R. S. Bharj. Following his Ph.D., he served as Quality & Research Specialist at Mammoth Energy India Private Limited, Hansi, from March 2023 to January 2024. He then served as Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at IMSEC, Ghaziabad, from January 2024 to February 2025, before returning to Mammoth Energy India Private Limited as Quality & Research Specialist from March 2025 to November 2025. Since December 2025, he has served as Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Sanskaram University, Jhajjar, Haryana.

He has taught subjects including Workshop Technology, Material Science, Fluid Mechanics, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He has attended 18 seminars, symposia, workshops, and faculty development programmes, largely through NIT Jalandhar's TEQIP-II programme, on topics ranging from finite element methods and nanostructured materials to research methodology and emerging techniques in AI and cybersecurity.

He has also run a coaching centre for Diploma and B.Tech. students, organized personality development workshops, yoga and meditation sessions, and memory technique classes, and served as Head of the Discipline Committee in Mega Hostel Boys, Block-B, NIT Jalandhar (2015–2016), and as a member of the Mess Committee in the same hostel (2016–2017). He completed two six-week industrial training placements at Jindal Stainless Ltd., Hisar, in 2007 and 2008.

Research and Publications

Dr Surender Kumar has authored or co-authored 7 book chapters, 24 peer-reviewed papers in international and national journals, 5 papers in international conference proceedings, and 24 papers in national conference proceedings, alongside presenting research at approximately 24 national and international conferences. His research has largely focused on solar hybrid cold storage and refrigeration systems, refrigerated and solar-assisted electric vehicles, composite materials, and heat transfer studies, with several papers indexed in Scopus and published in journals including the International Journal of Engineering & Advanced Technology, International Journal of Technical Research & Science, and Acta Scientiae.

Notable book chapter contributions include work on agricultural product solar drying, energy-efficient hybrid solar systems for cold storage, green tribology, and battery use in solar-refrigerated e-rickshaws, published through Springer, Excel India Publishers, and other academic publishers.

He has presented papers at conferences and institutions including NIT Jalandhar, NIT Kurukshetra, IIT Indore, IIT Bombay, Lovely Professional University, and Malla Reddy College of Engineering & Technology, on subjects including solar hybrid cold storage, composite materials for electric vehicles, and green and nanotechnology applications in solar-refrigerated e-rickshaws.
