Sourav Mukherjee was born and raised in Kolkata, West Bengal. He holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from Jadavpur University and holds certifications from The Pennsylvania State University in Dual Use Research of Concern, Social and Behavioral Research Best Practices, IRB – Human Subjects Research, and Research Security & Vulnerable Populations.

After beginning his career as a Database Administrator at IBM India Pvt. Ltd., Sourav transitioned to the social sector to pursue his passion for grassroots development and sustainable community building.

In 2012, he founded Kolkata Society for Cultural Heritage (KSCH), an award-winning organization focused on women-led rural transformation, climate resilience, eco-tourism, and sustainable livelihoods. Under his leadership, KSCH has:

* Enabled over 4,400 women entrepreneurs through handicrafts, organic farming, and eco-tourism.
* Partnered with BPCL, Haldia Petrochemicals, NRK Trust (London), and the United Nations ECOSOC.
* Launched Swayamsiddha, a government-supported sustainable brand promoting handcrafted rural products.
